“Those who want to be rich are falling into temptation and into a trap
and into many foolish and harmful desires,
which plunge them into ruin and destruction.” (1 Tim 6:9)

The Greek word for plunge here refers to overburdening a ship, causing it to sink and create a shipwreck. See Luke 5:7: “They signaled to their partners in the other boat to come to help them. They came and filled both boats so that they were in danger of sinking.”
