How do we react to our own misery and “filth”? How do we react to the misery and filth of others? The two are connected: if we rejoice in our misery because it enables us to receive His Mercy, then we will rejoice even in the misery of others, because it gives us an opportunity to show them Mercy. As the Lord Himself commanded us: “Love one another as I have loved you” (Jn 13:34).

1 Peter 1:1-2

I am beginning to study and meditate on 1 Peter for my own personal evening meditation and wanted to share some of its fruits today – meditating on verses 1-2.

As a conclusion to the end: how often do we wish people “grace and peace in abundance” (rather than “have a good day”)? Have we received that “grace and peace in abundance” such that we can not only wish it to others but in fact share and give it to them?
