Wednesday of the Fourth Week of Easter – Memorial of St. Damien of Molokai

Today is the Memorial of St. Damien, who ministered to the abandoned leper colony on the island of Molokai. Do we draw near to the poor, so near that we even share in their suffering? Saint Damien gives us an example of how to love the poor and the most rejected, just as Christ loved us so much that He took on our sin in His very flesh upon the Cross.
